Ambassador Carol Perez spoke at the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) 2018 Annual Conference, hosted this year by the Port of Valparaíso from October 7-10. In her remarks, the Ambassador encouraged deepening port ties between Chile and the United States to support smooth and efficient trade flows on both sides.
AAPA 2018 in Valparaiso attracted more than 400 registrants, including a delegation of over 150 U.S. participants, most of which are port authorities – including Los Angeles, New York & New Jersey, Long Beach, and Virginia, among many others – and service providers. The Port of Virginia, the East Coast’s third largest port by container traffic, will serve as the next host of AAPA in 2019. The event was also attended by the U.S. Commercial Service office of U.S. Embassy Santiago, which facilitates U.S. exports and business collaboration abroad.
