Congressman Howard “Buck” McKeon to Visit Chile

United States Representative for California, Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-CA), will head a delegation that will visit Chile February 16-18 on a tour that includes stops throughout South America.  Congressman McKeon is Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee.

The delegation will also include Representatives Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH), Austin Scott (R-GA), Doug Lamborn (R-CO) and Vicky Hartzler (R-MO). While in Santiago they will meet with government officials to discuss international cooperation in the areas of defense and bilateral issues.

Buck McKeon

Congressman McKeon was born September 9, 1939, in Los Angeles.  He grew up in Tujunga, California, and attended Brigham Young University.  He was elected U.S. Representative for California’s 25th district in 1993 and today chairs the House Armed Services Committee (HASC).

As chair of this committee, the Congressman’s priorities are to ensure resources in equipment and training of U.S. troops to meet the challenges of the 21st century, while mandating fiscal responsibility, accountability, and transparency from the Department of Defense.
