
DanceMotion USA group Contra-Tiempo arrived in Santiago on May 29th as part of their South American tour. Contra-Tiempo is an urban Latin dance-theater association that tours internationally. Founded in 2005, the company engages audiences across social and cultural divides and takes a progressive approach to the way in which artists function within communities. From May 29th through June 8th, Contra-Tiempo will be traveling throughout Chile performing and providing dance workshops in Talca, Santiago, Temuco and Frutillar.
Contra-Tiempo focuses on a new genre of performance and their artistic director, Ana María Alvarez, is interested in exploring the diversity of the American experience through the dance troupe. The company incorporates salsa, afro-Cuban, hip-hop and theater to create intense performances. While in Chile, Contra-Tiempo will be providing dance workshops in various locations, including afro-contemporary dance, urban latin danc and salsa, among others. They will perform in Santiago on June 3rd, at the GAM Cultural Center.
