DanceMotion USA group Contra-Tiempo provided workshops this week to various groups across Chile. This included a workshop for school children ages 14-17 on Monday at the GAM Cultural Center in Santiago. The students who participated in the workshop had some previous dancing and acting skills, and were energetic and excited to learn. About 40 students participated and were able to learn different dance moves from the Contra-Tiempo dancers through a class conducted in Spanish by Cesar Garfiaz.
The kids had the opportunity to dance with each other and the various dancers, frequently switching partners, providing for a fun, lively atmosphere. At the end of the workshop all of the students and dancers got to share their favorite parts and what they learned from the workshop. Both expressed how much they enjoyed getting to dance with each other, sharing a special moment and cultural experience, and the students were glad to have had such an opportunity.
On Tuesday 3rd Contra-Tiempo will be performing at the GAM Cultural Center in Santiago before heading to Temuco on Wednesday. The performance begins at 7 p.m. and the audience will consist of teenagers at risk, the blind and the elderly, and teachers from low income communities as well as the general public.
