Location:  Metropolitan Region of Santiago and other major cities throughout Chile.

Event:  There is the possibility of protests due to the anniversary of the “Estallido Social” (or social unrest) in Chile on Tuesday, October 18, in the Santiago Metropolitan Region and in some outlying communities of the Metropolitan Region.

Prior protests in Santiago and around the country have been spontaneous and mobile with incidents of violence.  Monitor local media for the most up-to-date information regarding active protests.

American citizens who require emergency consular services are advised to contact the U.S. Embassy numbers below.
