Event: Changes in Quarantine Measures Announced

As of July 1, the Ministry of Health has confirmed 282,043 cases of COVID-19 in Chile. 

The government of Chile has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. The following new measures were announced by the Chilean government on July 1:

·         Extension of quarantine for Gran Santiago as well as six nearby comunas until Friday, July 10

·         Extension of quarantines for the following additional comunas until Friday, July 10:

o    Iquique (I Region)

o    Alto Hospicio (I Region)

o    Pozo Almonte (I Region)

o    San Felipe (V Region)

o    Los Andes (V Region)

o    Valparaíso (V Region)

o    Viña del Mar (V Region)

o    Quillota (V Region)

o    San José de Maipo (RM)

o    Calera de Tango (RM)

o    Peñaflor (RM)

o    Talagante (RM)

o    El Monte (RM)

o    Melipilla (RM)

o    Curacaví (RM)

o    Tiltil (RM)

o    Rancagua (VI Region)

o    Graneros (VI Region)

o    Machalí (VI Region)

o    Curicó (VII Region)

·         A sanitary cordon for the comunas of Lota and Coronel (VIII Region), beginning at 10:00 pm Friday, July 3

LATAM maintains commercial flights between Santiago and the U.S. As commercial flight options and availability may change with little notice, the U.S. Embassy continues to encourage all citizens who are not prepared to remain in Chile for an indefinite period of time to take advantage of commercial flights to the U.S. while they are available. Contact LATAM for any information regarding changed or cancelled flights. The Department of State is not currently organizing an evacuation of American citizens from Chile. Please note that evacuation flights are not free of charge.
