Event: Changes in Quarantine Measures Announced

***The Embassy will send STEP messages whenever there are changes to quarantine measures announced by the Chilean government***

As of September 16, the Ministry of Health has confirmed 439,287 cases of COVID-19 in Chile. 

The government of Chile has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. The following new measures were announced by the Chilean government on September 16:

·         The imposition of a quarantine for the following comunas (begins Friday, September 18 at 5:00 am):

o    Pichidehua (VI Region)

o    Licantén ( VII Region)

o    Curanilahue (VIII Region)

o    Los Álamos (VIII Region)

o    Lebu (VIII Region)

o    Maullín (X Region)

·         The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 1 (Quarantine) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the removal of quarantine from Monday-Friday (begins Monday, September 21 at 5:00 am):

o    Independencia (RM)

o    Pudahuel (RM)

o    El Bosque (RM)

·         The downgrading of the following comunas from Phase 3 (Preparation) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the resumption of quarantines on the weekends and during holidays (begins Friday, September 18 at 5:00 am):

o   San Fernando (VI Region)

    Talca (VII Region)

LATAM and American Airlines are currently operating commercial flights between Santiago and the U.S. Contact your airline for any questions regarding rescheduled or cancelled flights. Given the continued availability and expansion of commercial flight options from Chile to the U.S., the Department of State is not currently organizing an evacuation of American citizens from Chile.
