Health Alert – U.S. Embassy Santiago

 Event: Changes in Quarantine Measures Announced

 ***The Embassy will send STEP messages whenever there are changes to quarantine measures announced by the Chilean government***

 As of November 2, the Ministry of Health has confirmed 513,188 cases of COVID-19 in Chile.

 The government of Chile has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. The following new measures were announced by the Chilean government on November 2:

  • The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 1 (Quarantine) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the removal of quarantine from Monday-Friday (begins Thursday, November 5 at 5:00 am):
    •  Pichidegua (VII Region)
    • Curanilahue (VIII Region)
    • Los Álamos (VIII Region)
    • Frutillar (X Region)
    • Fresia (X Region)
  •  The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 2 (Transition) to Phase 3 (Preparation). This includes the lifting of quarantine on the weekends and holidays (begins Thursday, November 5 at 5:00 am): 
    • Pozo Almonte (I Region)
    • Tierra Amarilla (III Region)
    • Vallenar (III Region)
    • Copiapó (III Region)
    • Viña del Mar (V Region)
    • Valparaíso (V Region)
    • Conchalí (RM)
    • San Miguel (RM)
    • San Ramón (RM)
    • La Granja (RM)
    • Puente Alto (RM)
    • La Pintana (RM)
    • Buin (RM)
    • Rengo (VI Region)
    • San Vicente (VI Region)
    • San José de Mariquina (XIV Region)
  •  The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 3 (Preparation) to Phase 4 (Initial Opening). This includes the re-opening of cinemas and movie theaters, as well as indoor seating at restaraunts at limited capacity (begins Thursday, November 5 at 5:00 am):
    • Cerrillos (RM)
  • The following changes to quarantine were also announced (all changes begin Thursday, November 5):
    •  With the exceptions below, the national curfew will be from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 am
    • More restrictive curfews in place in the Magallanes Region remain in effect
    • Curfew in Puerto Montt will move up to 8:00 pm to 5:00 am
