Event: Changes in Quarantine Measures Announced
***The Embassy will send STEP messages whenever there are changes to quarantine measures announced by the Chilean government***
As of November 19, the Ministry of Health has confirmed 536,012 cases of COVID-19 in Chile.
The government of Chile has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. The following new measures were announced by the Chilean government on November 19:
- The imposition of a quarantine for the following comunas (begins Saturday, November 21 at 5:00 am):
- Puqueldón (Región de los Lagos)
- Queilen (Región de los Lagos)
- Ancud (Región de los Lagos)
- Quemchi (Región de los Lagos)
- The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 1 (Quarantine) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the removal of quarantine from Monday-Friday (begins Monday, November 23 at 5:00 am):
- Vilcún (Región de la Araucanía)
- The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 2 (Transition) to Phase 3 (Preparation). This includes the lifting of quarantine on the weekends and holidays (begins Monday, November 23 at 5:00 am):
- Arica (Región de Arica)
- Alto Hospicio (Región de Tarapacá)
- San Javier (Región del Maule)
- Frutillar (Región de los Lagos)
- Fresia (Región de los Lagos
- The downgrading of the following comunas from Phase 3 (Preparation) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the imposition of a quarantine on the weekends and holidays (begins Saturday, November 21 at 5:00 am):
- Parral (Región del Maule)
- Quillón (Región de Ñuble)
- Toltén (Región de la Araucanía)
- Los Sauces (Región de la Araucanía)
- Puerto Varas (Región de los Lagos)
- A curfew extension for Gran Concepción, now from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am (begins Saturday, November 21)
