Event: Changes in Quarantine Measures Announced
***The Embassy will send STEP messages whenever there are changes to quarantine measures announced by the Chilean government***
As of August 26, the Ministry of Health has confirmed 402,365 cases of COVID-19 in Chile.
The government of Chile has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. The following new measures were announced by the Chilean government on August 26:
· The introduction of quarantines for the following comunas (begins Friday, August 28 at 11:00 pm):
o Linares (VII Region)
o Concepción (VIII Region)
o Talcahuano (VIII Region)
o Hualpén (VIII Region)
o Chiguayante (VIII Region)
· The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 1 (Quarantine) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the removal of quarantine from Monday-Friday (begins Monday, August 31 at 5:00 am):
o Hechuraba (RM)
o Macul (RM)
o La Florida (RM)
o Pedro Aguirre Cerda (RM)
o Cerrillos (RM)
o Maipú (RM)
o Calera de Tango (RM)
o El Monte (RM)
o Talagante (RM)

LATAM and American Airlines are currently operating commercial flights between Santiago and the U.S. Contact your airline for any questions regarding rescheduled or cancelled flights. Given the continued availability and expansion of commercial flight options from Chile to the U.S., the Department of State is not currently organizing an evacuation of American citizens from Chile.
