Event: Changes in Quarantine Measures Announced
***The Embassy will send STEP messages whenever there are changes to quarantine measures announced by the Chilean government***
As of September 2, the Ministry of Health has confirmed 414,739cases of COVID-19 in Chile.
The government of Chile has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. The following new measures were announced by the Chilean government on September 2:
· The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 1 (Quarantine) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the removal of quarantine from Monday-Friday (begins Monday, September 7 at 5:00 am):
o Recoleta (RM)
o San Miguel (RM)
o San Joaquín (RM)
o La Granja (RM)
o La Cisterna (RM)
o San Ramón (RM)
· Beginning Thursday, September 17 at 6:00 pm, and continuing through Sunday, September 20 at 11:00 pm:
o The placement of sanitary cordons for the Metropolitan Region, the Valparaiso (V) Region, Greater Concepción, and the comunas of Temuco and Padre Las Casas
o The prohibition of travel in between different Regions in Chile

LATAM and American Airlines are currently operating commercial flights between Santiago and the U.S. Contact your airline for any questions regarding rescheduled or cancelled flights. Given the continued availability and expansion of commercial flight options from Chile to the U.S., the Department of State is not currently organizing an evacuation of American citizens from Chile.
