Event: Changes in Quarantine Measures Announced
***The Embassy will send STEP messages whenever there are changes to quarantine measures announced by the Chilean government***
As of September 9, the Ministry of Health has confirmed 427,027 cases of COVID-19 in Chile.
The government of Chile has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. The following new measures were announced by the Chilean government on September 9:
· The imposition of a quarantine for the following comunas (begins Friday, September 11 at 11:00 pm):
o Vallenar (III Region)
o Paine (RM)
o Molina (VII Region)
o San Clemente (VII Region)
o Longaví (VII Region)
o Coronel (VIII Region)
o San Pedro de la Paz (VIII Region)
o Lota (VIII Region)
o Puerto Natales (XII Region)
o Porvenir (XII Region)
· The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 1 (Quarantine) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the removal of quarantine from Monday-Friday (begins Monday, September 14 at 5:00 am):
o Quilicura (RM)
o San Bernardo (RM)
o Isla de Maipo (RM)
· The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 2 (Transition) to Phase 3 (Preparation). This includes the lifting of quarantine on the weekends and holidays (begins Monday, September 14 at 5:00 am):
o La Reina (RM)

LATAM and American Airlines are currently operating commercial flights between Santiago and the U.S. Contact your airline for any questions regarding rescheduled or cancelled flights. Given the continued availability and expansion of commercial flight options from Chile to the U.S., the Department of State is not currently organizing an evacuation of American citizens from Chile.
