Event: Changes in Quarantine Measures Announced
***The Embassy will send STEP messages whenever there are changes to quarantine measures announced by the Chilean government***
As of February 15, the Ministry of Health has confirmed 779,541 cases of COVID-19 in Chile.
The government of Chile has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. The following new measures were announced by the Chilean government on February 15:
- The imposition of a quarantine for the following comunas (begins Thursday, February 18 at 5:00 am):
- Licantén (VII Region)
- Pencahue (VII Region)
- Futrono (XIV Region)
- Mariquina (XIV Region)
- The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 1 (Quarantine) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the lifting of quarantine Monday-Friday (begins Tuesday, February 16 at 5:00 am):
- Iquique (I Region)
- Alto Hospicio (I Region)
- Antofagasta (II Region)
- Copiapó (III Region)
- Diego de Almagro (III Region)
- Laja (VIII Region)
- Pucón (IX Region)
- Castro (X Region)
- Puyehue (X Region)
- Río Negro (X Region)
- Puerto Varas (X Region)
- Quellón (X Region)
- Dalcahue (X Region)
- Fresia (X Region)
- Puerto Montt (X Region)
- Osorno (X Region)
- San Pablo (X Region)
- Quinchao (X Region)
- Quemchi (X Region)
- San Juan de la Costa (X Region)
- Ancud (X Region)
- Puerto Octay (X Region)
- Curaco de Vélez (X Region)
- The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 2 (Transition) to Phase 3 (Preparation). This includes the lifting of quarantine on the weekends and holidays (Thursday, Feburary 18 at 5:00 am):

- Nancagua (VI Region)
- Coltauco (VI Region)
- Coinco (VI Region)
- Rauco (VII Region)
- Curacautín (IX Region)
- Futaleufú (X Region)
- Aysén (XI Region)
- Porvenir (XII Region)
- The downgrading of the following comunas from Phase 3 (Preparation) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the reimposition of quarantines on the weekends and holidays (begins Thursday, February 18 at 5:00 am):
- El Quisco (V Region)
- El Tabo (V Region)
- Placilla (VI Region)
- Marchigüe (VI Region)
- Chimbarongo (VI Region)
- Pichidegua (VI Region)
- Ninhue (XVI Region)
- Ranquil (XVI Region)
- Ñiquén (XVI Region)
- Coelemu (XVI Region)
- Quilleco (VIII Region)
- Ercilla (IX Region)
- Renaico (IX Region)
