 Event: Changes in Quarantine Measures Announced

***The Embassy will send STEP messages whenever there are changes to quarantine measures announced by the Chilean government***

 As of February 18, the Ministry of Health has confirmed 788,142 cases of COVID-19 in Chile.

 The government of Chile has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. The following new measures were announced by the Chilean government on February 18:

  •  The imposition of a quarantine for the following comunas (begins Saturday, Feburary 20 at 5:00 am):
      • Rengo (VI Region)
      • Los Ángeles (VIII Region)
      • Lumaco (IX Region)
  • The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 1 (Quarantine) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the lifting of quarantine Monday-Friday (begins Monday, February 22 at 5:00 am):
      • Talca (VII Region)
      • Curanilahue (VIII Region)
      • Arauco (VIII Region)
      • Lebu (VIII Region)
      • La Unión (XIV Region)
      • Llanquihue (X Region)
      • Frutillar (X Region)
      • Purranque (X Region)
      • Chonchi (X Region)
    • The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 2 (Transition) to Phase 3 (Preparation). This includes the lifting of quarantine on the weekends and holidays (begins Monday, Feburary 22 at 5:00 am):
      • Vallenar (III Region)
      • Casablanca (V Region)
      • Colina (RM)
      • San Fernando (VI Region)
      • Pumanque (VI Region)
      • Sagrada Familia (VII Region)
      • Santa Juana (VIII Region)
    • The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 3 (Preparation) to Phase 4 (Initial Opening). This the resumption of indoor dining in restaruants, as well as the reopening of theaters and cinemas with limited capacity (begins Monday, February 22 at 5:00 am):
      • Peñaflor (RM)
      • Talgante (RM)
    •  The downgrading  of the following comunas from Phase 4 (Initial Opening) to Phase 2 (Preparation). This includes the prohibition of indoor dining, as well as the functioning of theaters and cinemas (begins Saturday, Feburary 20 at 5:00 am):
      • San Pedro (RM)
    • The downgrading  of the following comunas from Phase 3 (Preparation) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the reimposition of quarantines on the weekends and holidays (begins Saturday, February 20 at 5:00 am):
      • Canela (IV Region)
      • Catemu (V Region)
      • San Antonio (V Region)
      • Quintero (V Region)
      • Padre Hurtado (RM)
      • San José de Maipo (RM)
      • Freire (IX Region)
