Event: Changes in Quarantine Measures Announced

***The Embassy will send STEP messages whenever there are changes to quarantine measures announced by the Chilean government***

As of January 25, the Ministry of Health has confirmed 703,178 cases of COVID-19 in Chile.

The government of Chile has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. The following new measures were announced by the Chilean government on January 25:

·         The imposition of a quarantine for the following comunas (begins Thursday, January 28 at 5:00 am):

o    Huara (I Region)

o    Constitución (VII Region)

o    San Carlos (XVI Region)

o    Cabrero (VIII Region)

o    Tirúa (VIII Region)

o    Lautaro (IX Region)

o    Pucón (VIII Region)

o    Lago Ranco (XIV Region)

o    Frutillar (X Region)

o    Los Muermos (X Region)

o    San Pablo (X Region)

·         The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 2 (Transition)  to Phase 3 (Preparation). This includes the lifting of quarantine on the weekends and holidays (begins Thursday, January 28  at 5:00 am).

o    San Antonio (V Region)

o    Curacaví (RM)

·         The downgrading of the following comunas from Phase 3 (Preparation) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the reimposition of quarantines on the weekends and holidays (begins Thursday, January 28  at 5:00 am):

o    Caldera (III Region)

o    Los Vilos (IV Region)

o    Coquimbo (IV Region)

o    La Serena (IV Region)

o    Rengo (VI Region)

o    Algarrobo (V Region)

o    Til Til (RM)

o    María Pinto (RM)

o    Peumo (VI Region)

o    Quinta de Tilcoco (VI Region)

o    Requinoa (VI Region)

o    Olivar (VI Region)

o    Rancagua (VI Region)

o    Machalí (VI Region)

o    Rauco (VII Region)

o    Parral (VII Region)

o    Purén (IX Region)

o    Curarrehue (IX Region)

o    Teodoro Schmidt (IX Region)

o    Panguipulli (X Region)
