The U.S. government expresses its condolences for the tragedy in the north of Chile as the result of recent severe flooding and mudslides. Our sympathies go out to the victims and their families.
In response to a request by the Government of Chile, the U.S. government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance, is providing $100,000 USD of assistance for immediate relief efforts in the form of emergency supplies, such as bedding, mattresses, blankets and cleaning materials to sanitize homes that have been flooded. The U.S. government will partner with Caritas Chile to deliver the supplies to the affected families and victims.
