Crewmembers of the USS America and of the Chilean navy ship Sargento Aldea visited the boy’s home Arturo Prat in Valparaiso.
A group of 50 marines met early morning and worked all day painting the long exterior wall. However, the crew also spent time with the boys and played several soccer matches throughout the morning, in which there were no winners or losers.
The director of the boy’s home, Carlos Lopez Contreras, welcomed the marines and underscored that the home is celebrating its 92nd anniversary.
The USS America is the U.S. Navy´s newest amphibious assault ship. It anchored in the port of Valparaiso and is on its maiden voyage from Pascagoula, Mississippi, to its future homeport in San Diego, California.
